It is the twilight of the current age, and we bask in its fading gleams. Much that can be shaken, soon will be.
This was what was spoken into my spirit recently. I have a few ideas on how to understand it, but I think it best if I leave the interpretation open for now.
With apologies to those who are not Tolkien fans, this is what informs my hearts response:
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I, said Gandalf, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
The word is to persevere, though all trials, to run the race set out for us. And, when all else has been done, to simply stand.
Hebrews 12
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
The shaking already has started and is worsening by the day. Christ is about to come through the door.
Love in Christ,

Peter – we did a study of “Waking the Dead”, John Eldredge, two years ago, and he uses the Lord of the Rings analogies and other writers too. You would just love it. Also I believe Ed Hird has used Gandolf’s words too. Just confirmation for you.

Peter, I keep finding gems in your blog…
So another Tolkien fan; I should have known!
Must have read them all half a dozen times over the years, yeah…
And that line…
The analogy is just so close…
I was sitting next to our youngest son when I heard that and had such a witness it was a word for him at the time. When we actually get to talk I’ll have to tell you about the dreams he has been having since he was eight. Very prophetic and an amazing but searching young man.
He knows the Lord has a call on his life and part to play in the coming days and it has greatly affected him in so many ways. he simply can’t picture a future like the world we now live in as he has seen so much.
Wow, I am a going on here…
It’s the LOTR that thing got me started…
Blessings to you Peter!
